Kylie Lip Kit Review

Finally ! 3 weeks later and I now have my hands on the Kylie lip kit in dolce k. I still cannot believe I managed to order it within 30 seconds of it launching. It was very tough but my advice for all you lovelies is to be well prepared; I kept refreshing the page 5 minutes before it launched and had my bank details, address etc typed in a word document so I could quickly copy and paste them to place my order.

The lip kit costs $29 and includes a matte liquid lipstick and a lip liner.
It is available in 3 shade Candy K, Dolce K and True Brown K.
Candy k is the lightest shade and is a pink nude.
Dolce k is a light brown nude.
True brown k is exactly what the name suggests. A deep chocolate brown.

The box of the lip kit is 'dope' as Kylie would say. The dripping paint on the lips gives an edgy effect. The box is clean looking and informative; it's basically straight to the point with all the information you need on the back. The top tab of the box is the same shade as the lip colour inside which i think is very useful.  The lip liner looks pretty standard and is a similar design to every other brand. The liquid lipstick has the cool dripping effect with kylies signature printed on it, giving it a more creative look. The liquid lipstick bottle is clear so you can instantly see how much product is still left and it is easy to clean (unlike frosted glass tubes which scratch easily).

I only bought Dolce K as I just did not gravitate towards the other two shades; I knew they wouldn't suit me or I would never wear them. Dolce K is versatile and suits every skin tone. One swipe is all you need as the product is highly pigmented and a little goes a long way. As soon as you open the liquid lipstick the first thing you notice is the wonderful vanilla scent it's as if you just stepped into a bakery. After applying the lipstick it dries in seconds into a matte brownish nude, it's totally transfer proof but does not feel dry at all. It's one of the very rare liquid lipsticks that feel light and comfortable on your lips. The lip liner reminds me of the mac pro long wear pencils as it glides on effortlessly. It is a must have and can be worn with so many other lipsticks (even on its own) !

If you missed out on the lip kit there are dupes for each shade from colourpop cosmetics at a fraction of the price ! I found the picture below on Instagram to show you, on the left it is by @lipkitbykylie and on the right it is @cakedconfessions swatching the colourpop ultra matte liquid lipsticks:

A lot of buyers have had many issues with purchasing the lip kit and unfortunately I was one of them. My bank account was charged for the product and I received a confirmation email but there was no following email with tracking details. I emailed several times and received automated replies advising to go on to their social media page which I did but there was no luck there either. I emailed the tracking team and 2 weeks have gone by but still no reply even though it states they will reply within 24-48 hrs. On top of that I was charged a custom fee for the lip kit of £12/$20 but my friend ordered 7 and did not receive a charge. I paid a lot for delivery and it took longer than the timescale stated on the website. Overall honestly for customer service I would give a solid 0/10.

Bad customer service aside I absolutely adore the product from the packaging to the formula it all works well. I cannot wait for more colours to be released in the next few months and many other beauty products.

Top 5 Beauty Snapchatters To Follow

We are always looking for ways to improve our hair and make up skills. The best way is by sharing best practice so others can learn ways to improve their techniques. The amazing thing about snapchat is you get to know people on a more personal level; it is more than just posting a glam photo. It is by far the best social media app out right now, I mean why wouldn't it be; you have access to viewing people's daily lives, watching make up tutorials as they happen, tuning into ranting sessions and so on...

It was very difficult to narrow it down to the top five snapchatters that I have been following but after changing my mind several times and harsh analysing I finally made my decision. I would recommend  that as soon as you read this blog post go and follow these snapchatters as I have seriously learnt so much from them therefore I am forever greatful (even though they don't know I exist) !

5) @Makeupshayla

It's so refreshing to see a woman of colour killing the make up game on snapchat ! Shayla is a LA based make up artist who has her own online classes makeupshaylalive. She recently launched her 'slayla' lashes in collaboration with flutter lashes, watch her snaps to see the best way to apply and look after them.
I can't get enough of Shayla's blue French bulldog King titus, she always shares adorable videos of him running around the apartment.
One thing is for sure this girl always goes hard in the gym ! It always motivates me to get up and follow her routine to maintain my curves and flat stomach.
The best snaps are always the #shaylataughtme: these are demos and tricks on how to take the most flattering photos, wether that's learning your angles or finding the best selfie lighting, shayla always knows how ! Watching her applying highlighter on to her cheekbones and contouring her nose always gives me satisfaction, she has the techniques pinned to a point, no messing with her !

4) @Lusterlux

With her ponytail fiercely snatched you can always  guarantee you're in for a great adventure with Katy (& Desi). She is always putting new foundations and other beauty products to the test then at the end of the day giving us followers a run down as do wether it is worth buying and some up close photos showing how well the product lasted (or didn't).
It's absolutely hilarious watching behind the scenes snaps of her filming her YouTube videos. She always gives previews of new looks she shot and us snapchatters are the first to know when she uploads a new video.
Katy is one of the very few beauty bloggers who is honest about the make up products she receives. She always gives truthful opinions and if she is unsure about a product she lets us know that rather than promoting it falsely for us to buy. Watch her late night car rides out with Desi Perkins and funny snaps annoying her husband and dog Zoe.

3) @Desiperkins

Relationship goals is an understatement for her marriage with husband Steven Perkins, I mean he made Desi her own geo tag on snapchat for when she went New York !
Desi is so open about her life and without a fail every day she blogs her day to day activities on snap. After watching her snaps you literally feel as if you are her best friend and know her on a personal level.
Watch her sneak peek snaps of upcoming YouTube videos from soft natural glam to smokey warm looks and even Halloween tutorials !
Desi has regular snap sessions showing what items she has been loving recently, we know maybelline fit me foundation has been her fave lately and murad skincare products are the secret behind her flawless skin.
You can never predict this beauties make up look, every day she doesn't fail to surprise. Just like her outfits, she never wears the same make up look twice. Bold lips, dewy highlight, sharp countour... She does it all !

2) @Jaclynrhill

Following the major success of the highlighter 'champagne pop' the only way is up for Jaclyn Hill.
She always keeps us informed on snapchat about her collaborations and teases with beautiful swatches. Jaclyn has been collaborating with many popular make up brands in the past year, her most famous being with becca cosmetics for the champagne pop highlighter, not forgetting to mention her morphe pallete which completely sold out in an eye blink and the 1995 lipstick with Gerard cosmetics. All her products are made to the highest quality and it is easy to see she spends a lot of time perfecting them to please us followers.
Jaclyn is the most down to earth and sweetest beauty blogger (that is one of the reason her followers/subscribers continue to increase).  In her real talk sessions she gives the best beauty advice and
spread positivity to all, never letting the haters get to her. No one does a warm smokey eye tutorial like this angel does !

1) @Dyf-tamanna

Tamanna Roashan is both a hair stylist and make up artist, she is literally the queen of the make up artistry world.
Her 13+ years experience in the industry definitely shows on her snapchat and I have never learnt more about beauty than from watching her. With a variety of snaps you will gain knowledge daily from this beauty guru.
Make up madness mondays are full of unboxing sessions of beauty products leaving you drooling for more. Full of swatches, demos and reviews you will not be disappointed.
Tantrum Tuesdays are basically ranting sessions that we can all relate to, watch Tamanna silence the haters and share her bad experiences with bridezillas.
The weekends are packed with bridal bookings, she is generous enough to snap all the tutorials with one hand whilst doing the brides make up with the other. Tamanna demonstrates how to achieve the perfect curled updo, create a beautiful shimmery eye look and maps out the face to explain how to correctly contour and highlight. That is not all she also snaps during her one to one make up classes in her studio room so we can also learn the techniques she teaches her students. We are also taken behind the scenes of her make up master class world tour, seeing her team fill the goody bags with sponsored products.

Being a good make up artist takes time and practice, Snapchat is a great insight into beauty blogger's lives enabling you to learn from the best.

Lime Crime Velvetines

Liquid lipsticks have been the rave for the past few months and it does not look like the hype is dying anytime soon. It only takes one swipe to get an intense shot of colour on your lips and it dries in seconds to a matte finish.

Lime Crime velvetines are described as having a rose petal texture and being transfer proof; the pro of this is no smudging when eating/drinking resulting in your lipstick lasting all night but the con of this is if you make a mistake good luck trying to fix it. These velvetines cost $20 (2.6ml) which is the average all brands of liquid lipsticks cost. There has been a lot of gossip in regards to the limecrime security breach; some people boycotting the companies products and others too worried to even purchase from their website. I won't go into any detail about the topic as supposedly it has all been sorted out now and here's the link about the hack from founder of Limecrime Doe Deere http://www.limecrime.com/security/

The three shades I have at the moment are Salem, Riot and the most popular (unusual) shade Cashmere. I absolutely adore all these shades and will definitely be expanding my collection especially as they are vegan and cruelty free. Further down the blog I will be reviewing each shade separately and will also share some dupes !

Above are swatches of the three I have in order (L-R) salem, riot, cashmere. They are highly pigmented and a little goes a very long way.

                                                                      Salem

This velvetines is a deep chocolate brown shade perfect for fall season and to create more 'vampy' looks. Here is a image I found on Limecrime's Instagram page:

Salem is part of the clueless witch collection along with two other shades wicked and black velvet. Personally I like to wear this shade with minimal or neutral eye make up (usually only a pair of wispie lashes) as I want to focus the look on the bold lips. This colour suits all skin tone so I would definitely recommend for everyone to purchase. Great dupes for this shade are: colourpop ultra matte lip ''limbo' $6, la splash smitten liptint mousse 'spellbound' $14 and a new release by jeffree star cosmetics 'dominatrix' $18.

                                                                  Cashmere

My favourite liquid lipstick of all times is definitely Limecrime cashmere. It's such a rare colour to
find and it perfect for all looks. It is a beautiful greige (grey-beige) colour with a hint of lilac. For a
natural make up look this is great to add a pop of colour and for full glam this definitely softens
the look. Lip swatch from Limecrime's Instagram page:

Because of how unique cashmere is, it is very difficult to find an exact dupe but here are a list of some highly similar products: colour pop ultra matte lip 'trap' $6, aromi beauty matte liquid lipstick 'desert taupe' $17, la splash cosmetics lip couture 'ghoulish' $14.

                                                                          Riot

Described as an earthy brown red marsala pigment this shade looks completely different on each individual, on lighter skin tones it looks more reddish pink and on more darker skin tones it is more of a muted red-brown. This colour looks great for more everyday looks or to create that Kylie Jenner pout.

Dupes for this include: la splash lip couture 'latte confession' $14 and girlactik matte lip paint 'allure' $23.

                                                                   Packaging

The velvetines come is a frosted glass bottle with a beautiful rose printed lid matching the outer box packaging. The glass gets scratched very quickly when laying with other products and because it's
matte it is highly visible then. The box they were shipped in was beyond cute, it was reversible and
covered in a floral pattern on the inside. The boxes come in great handy to store beauty products (I used one box for my make up sponges and the other for false eyelashes).

                                                              Rating

I would definitely recommend these Limecrime velvetines they are my favourite liquid lipsticks by far. They glide onto the lips and last all day and night without showing any signs of fading. They are so smooth to apply and do not leave behind any streaky marks ! I would give them a 4.5/5 the only improvement I would recommend is the frosted glass packaging.
